Phobos 6
Hey,
So this list is based upon someone else's, but I have gone through many iterations on cards that were switched back and forth. I have played a lot of Tarkin/Aphra back in the early legacies so Tarkin is an old favourite.
I had a Separatist Landing Craft for a long time but dropped it during the final week of testing in favour of the more stock second Force Jump. The second last card to get switched out was a Manipulate that was replaced with a Battle Fatigue.
Another, quite important difference, if the battlefield. Using Mos Eisley Spaceport - Tatooine instead of Theed Royal Palace - Naboo was part frustration over all decks running theed and part tech against action cheating neutral character decks. This deck will not be claiming much - with the only exception vs really slow playing vehicle decks which means you give your opponent an extra resource every round even on your own battle field. It's also not all that bad I think. You can return your upgrades to hand if you happen to be faster and it will probably not help anyone else much.
I'm playing a Senate Chamber which isn't frequent in the lists that I've seen around here, but I think it's really good. It gets the same job done as a manipulate at the cost of a die from the table. It says "turn a die" which catches people by surprise often. (Yes, I'm looking at you, Vader).
My games were:
Round 1 - Win - BYE (store champ win)
Round 2 - Loss - Vader/Greedo
Really nasty Vader start. Fist round one and darksaber round two. A very good player though, so it was well deserved either way.
Round 3 - Win - Han/Qi'ra
Another really good player but he was rolling far below average on his dice and I could close it with a few very good ones.
Round 4 - Win - Dj/Aphra
Non-meta kind of weird deck. I have played Dj/Aphra/BD a lot so I knew what was going on. He found trip-0 early which was bad, but never got to hit me for much with him.
Round 5 - Win - Vader/Greedo
Revenge on Vader, I got a fist out early and could discard a few hands from him which helped a lot
Round 6 - Win - Dooku/Talzin
Vader's fist in action again. Managed to reduce the big unyielding hit that I could see coming with an anger for a 3 melee.
Top 8 game - Loss 1-2 - Yoda/Gungan/Hired gun (fat shadowcaster)
Got to play against Claus from the awesome YOURDestiny podcast. It was a very fun game and really showed how different the matchups can be from one time to another. I crushed him in round one and he crushed me in round two. Round three was a lot closer and I probably made a misplay or two too many and Claus took the win - well deserved!
There will be videos coming up from the event and I happened to be recorded in at least 3 of the games, so I'll post those in comments once I have them.
A totally awesome event with 40 players, very well arranged and hosted! Big thanks to all the players who attended, very nice to meet you all!
