Round 1 - Kanan Jarrus - Rebel Jedi, Rebel Commando, Wookiee Warrior - Win
My opponent was a complete casual who only plays occasionally and the game went accordingly. I didn't see a single removal card from him and in the first 3 rounds I dealt 9 damage, 11 damage, 10 unblockable damage for a swift win.
Round 2 - Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch, 2x Mandalorian Super Commando - Loss
In this very thrilling game I most certainly lost to a stupid mistake I made. After starting a round with my Talzin on 1 HP and 1 shield I play Ancient Lightsaber on her for the first action, expecting him to ping off my shield with his power action so I can heal up and not die to the second PA. However he does not use a PA, so I start wondering what he is up to. I remember seeing a list of the Talzin Commandos on here with an LL-30 Blaster Pistol for Ambush shenanigans on the PA, and while considering whether he might be running that, I completely forget that he does without a doubt run Frighten and I foolishly activate instead of healing. Afterwards we still have a close game with Dooku doing what he can, but it's a little too little.
Round 3 - Boba Fett - Deadly Mercenary, Seventh Sister - Agile Inquisitor - Win
I decide to go for Boba first, because I can control all of Sisters damage sides with Dooku and I don't want Boba's special to hit me for 3 when I turn my dice. Looking back, I think it was the wrong call, but it worked out for me in the end. I also kept stealing his Shoto Lightsaber s on Seventh with my Dagger of Mortis which certainly helped.
Round 4 - Rex - Clone Captain, Clone Trooper, Hired Gun - Win
My opponent was running Rex vehicles, but he didn't really get to play them. I occupied his resources by forcing him to control my dice, still I took out Hired Gun at the start of round 2, turning off his Easy Pickings and Entangle. He got a few vehicles out but it was too late, he drew the wrong part of his removal suite (that which had spot yellow) and died.
Round 5 - Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch, 2x Mandalorian Super Commando - Win
Another very tight game. We went to time and I won on damage tiebreaker with 3 or 4 points I think.
Round 6 - Yoda - Wizened Master, Cassian Andor - Rebellion Operative, Anakin Skywalker - Podracing Prodigy - Win
I absolutely crushed this game, rolling out a 1 and a with Mother Talzin. I turned to a and played Force Wave on Dooku. By not needing to pay for any mitigation cards, I could go all out on my upgrades and pay sides thanks to It Binds All Things. Dooku was incredible, being extremely safe vs Easy Pickings and Entangle. My opponent had to take almost all of the damage I rolled and turned, except for one turn in which he had Beguile.
This made for a 5-1 record and 5th place after Swiss.
Top16 - Sabine Wren - Explosives Expert, Hera Syndulla - Phoenix Leader - Loss
Probably the worst matchup I could get in the cut, I manage to steal the first game just because my opponent could not get her dice to roll any damage. The other two games went as expected and Sabine did Sabine things.
Closing thoughts on the deck, which I had not played before this weekend: It feels strong, the consistency is incredible. My favorite card of the tournament was Deflect. Throughout most of the swiss rounds I wondered why Force Wave was even in the deck, constantly finding myself ditching it to reroll even against 3-wide decks - this deck just runs so tight on money, it's hard to justify playing a 3-cost upgrade which you always want to resolve with a pay side. However I found out in the sixth round what it is there for - the games in which you need to pay 0 resources for mitigation.
If I were to make any changes to the list, I might consider dropping 1 Unyielding for something else, but I couldn't say what.
It will all be mine and abandon all hope to slow down vehicles and chance cube decks. All other match up are fine I guess.
