There are versions of this deck floating around. I originally made this deck after watching Double Blanks Gaming on YouTube. I am really enjoying playing this deck. I want to alter it more so Ideas are most welcome.
Battlefield: I am torn on the battlefield. I like Starship Graveyard because it can get my ambush weapons back into my hand after I replace them, but I really like using Emperors Throne Room as well. Triggering the claim ability on ETR lets you get in a Mid Probe hit or a last minute Ezra credit.
Opening Hand: I feel the perfect opening hand is a Holdout Blaster, a Force Speed, Caution, Loth-cat, and a Truce. I have not been disappointed in starting with an Electroshock and a DL-44 though. Chances are that you won't install the DL turn one, but having it in hand for turn two is pretty great.
Opening Play: Starting with 5 character dice is great and I find that I win the battlefield about 75% of the time. During the first play, get the Holdout Blaster or Vibroknife played on Rey. Use her ability and the Ambush trigger to roll in Ezra then Maz. Hopefully you get a Maz focus result. Trigger her ability to resolve the Focus, changing one of Ezra's dice to his special; resolving it to steal a credit from your opponent.
If you get a Maz Focus and an Ezra Special when you roll them in, leave the Maz Focus on the table and resolve something else. You will use that Focus on Rey.
After your opponent's turn, if you are holding the DL-44, use the stolen credit from the turn before to over install the Holdout Blaster. You have your two actions, roll in Rey. If you get a good roll, hit hard. If you need it, the Maz Focus is waiting for you.
Mid Game: The ultimate goal is to get both of the Mind Probe's in play. Either both on Rey or split between Rey and Ezra. The Funeral Pyre will help move them around should Rey or Ezra fall. The Force Speed is a bonus that is great to have in play; not to use, but to bait your opponent to spend his removal cards on it to remove it. Don't worry about that, that is the point. If you get to use Force Speed that is a win-win, but it is only in there to be bait.
Force Throw is a great card to get out late early game, or early mid game. It is a great removal die that will become a die that your opponent will try desperately to remove, allowing you to keep your other dice.
If you can get One With The Force onto Ezra early (he is usually the second target in the game) you might get a few rolls out before Ben becomes a Support. Overwriting a Mind Probe for One With The Force is okay if you are using Starship Graveyard for your battlefield since you will get the Probe back.
Late Game: If Maz (and even Ezra) are not dead by this point you probably have the game in the bag. I find that they usually are dead. This is where you hopefully have both Mind Probe's and a DL-44 on Rey. Now it is just a matter of good rolls, and proper cards in hand to remove your opponents dice.
This is a great time to be holding your Mind Tricks and Negotiates. You should still have the fund to trigger them. I find that both players are usually at the end of their decks at this point. I have switched tactics in order to mill against a Han decks in order to remove dice and then trigger the card removal instead of doing damage.
Final Thoughts: All-in-all I think this deck is pretty fun and it might even be able to take on some tournament play. I am looking forward to your thoughts on the deck and perhaps some good ideas for making it better.

I did only make slight changes. I saw it the first time on Double Blanks Gaming on YouTube. For some reason the "inspired by" part of the builder did not work (I put in a link to the video). I updated the intro text to make sure he gets credit. I played a few games last night and you are right, Emperor's Throne Room is the battlefield to have. Being able to hit Mind Probes with that closes out the game. And I did use it to trigger a Force Throw as well, keeping me alive long enough to get rolled in, and claim in order to hit the Mind Probe for the win. I don't have any X-8's in the deck because I don't have any X-8's. Simple as that. Good note on the Funeral Pyre, I might get rid of it to put My Ally Is The Force back in. |
Ahh. makes sense. There was actually quite a bit of noise about them not giving deck building credit when they streamed it. You might want to consider running a second Vibro since you're missing out on the X-8's. The original builder suggested dropping Vibro and Reversal from his version for a Jedi Robes (put on maz round 1) and a utility defense card like block or dodge or another beefy upgrade like a Lightbow. I've been going back and forth on the Funeral Pyres as well. I find that if they go for Rey then you 100% want them, but most of my opponents that aren't in my local game group go for Ezra like 95% of the time, especially if he steals a resource right away. I just think this style of deck is flying under the radar for most people so they don't really know what it's going to do or what the correct line of attacks are against it. There are arguments to be made for going after all 3 of the characters first, so when someone first sees the deck they are kind of blind at how to attack and probably will make poor choices. |
Agreed. Right now when players first encounter this deck they are a little taken aback. The minute you pull the Rey Ambush, Ezra/Maz they figure it out. But if you pull that turn one hopefully they were planning on playing a 2 cost card and you just stripped that from them. |
Uhh.. It really looks like you swapped the battlefield and made 4 card changes to the original deck.
There's no reason to not run Emperor's Throne Room - Death Star II as the battlefield. It lets you 100% close out the game with Mind Probes or lets a Force Throw die in your pool be a super threat that needs removed immedately. Upside is you can claim to steal a resource with Ezra.
I like the idea of Mind Trick in here maybe but definitely put back in the My Ally Is The Force. That card is nuts in the late game. Also, I really don't understand dropping the X-8 Night Sniper for Force Speeds as they are two more Rey action cheaters that cost 2.
Lastly a quick note, Funeral Pyre only works when Rey dies.
