Edit I am considering replacing tactical mastery with dark presence. I am not overly convinced on this but tactical mastery isn't essential- I was just using it to cheat out some extra damage and it is just such a great card that I want to have it lol.

Hey guys, this is Jay! This is very similar to the deck list I made on my Table Top Sim live stream! I made just a couple minor adjustments after having played a few matches. This combo of Vader FN has received A LOT of attention. I am taking a little different approach with my version of this deck and I feel it is much more consistent. Many people include FN into their deck and then just throw a ton of weapons into their deck. This list is different because it is more of a midrange deck while also exploiting FN's amazing ability.

As you can see- this deck list only has 2 copies of four unique upgrades that work with FN's ability. The rest of the deck consists of various ways to control your opponent, keep your characters a live, and gather the necessary resources for FN's ability and the many sides of this deck that cost a resource to resolve.

So for the battlefield, I was torn on. Choosing a battlefield is always the toughest decision when making a deck for me. You have to take into consideration the speed of the deck, but also the speed of the majority of decks in the meta. Looking at Vader FN I consider this deck to be right in the middle- much slower than Poe/Maz and x/Rey but faster or equally as fast as Vader/Raider or Vader/Royal Gaurd. I chose to pick Moisture Farm for the main reason being, this deck needs resources. This deck can claim the battle field half the time when facing off with any other similar deck and if you're playing against Poe/Maz then you will never claim and choosing your own battlefield will always be better than theirs even if they get a resource every round.

The mulligan- You want to try and get enrage or logistics for early easy resources. The earlier you get resources the better you can exploit FN's ability. Vibroknife is always nice to start with, maybe Z6 Baton can be really awesome if you get an enrage as well. Playing against Poe/Maz or Palp ALWAYS mulligan for Isolations or Deflects or Doubt! If you can mitigate one of Poe or Palps die a turn then you can win.

Staying alive, almost everyone goes for Vader first- his dice are far too good to be left alone. This is what you want. Dug in's mixed with Force Illusion can really keep Vader alive for a long time. If you roll out FN and you have a couple shields, consider taking them for Vader if you need to- with the exception of playing against Vibroknife.

Close Quarters Assault is great in this deck- there are so many dice showing melee that you can get rid of your opponents entire hand with ease- losing 3 or 4 cards can be extremely detrimental. This card is extremely under rated and therefor a shock when played. Tactical Mastery is a give or take card- I play it because if you have a character about to die then you can get off some quick damage.

The rest is mitigation to use so your characters can stay a live, save for light saber throw which is the only damage dealing card in the deck. If you have the chance to mitigate damage, almost always do it. What differentiates the greatest players among us and the weakest is mitigation. Control can keep a a character alive one or two more rounds and that can help SO much.

I hope you guys enjoy this deck and if there is anything you would change then let me know! This is the live stream that I played the deck in- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXcDxNOe8dU

The cost is appealing for Doubt, but I've started to prefer over-confidence in my blue decks for removal slots. What your thoughts there?

Double Blanks Gaming- Jay 2232

@sruman I think you hit the nail on the head- this deck already costs a lot and doesn't have enough 0 cost cards. The reason I am slotting Doubt over something like Over Confidence is because it is 0 cost. Yeah it would be better because it is essentially 2 die mitigation and 1 die removal but doubt will be used more. I will consider it though, leave a like if you want! :)

I have not been able to make myself break out of the Sith Holocron box. I do love the Character duo.

Did you consider dark presence depending if vader isnt dying first it has the potential to generate some serious value. If you get 2 merely rolling in can take both of poes dice with how poe maz players like to play with no upgrades

DJRAZZ 110

This is why I would like to consider the Sith Holocron build. You can add cards like Force Choke and Mind Probe to abuse Dark Presence. With Force Throw you could have synergy with Baby Vader's and FN's range sides, some discard sides to abuse Dark Presence and have extra damage and dice mitigation with great upgrade support. This will require a complete re-think of your events.

@Jmiahddixon I had a problem. Can you roll the baton out, reroll it and resolve it. A player told me you could not.

Double Blanks Gaming- Jay 2232

@DJRAZZ I don't think you're the only one! A lot of people want to include holocron but to be honest, with the speed of this deck and the speed of this meta, holocron probably isn't going to be as useful. Plus in my eyes this deck isn't a holocron deck- it's 100% a melee deck and Vader is almost always going to be focused down first. @stranglebat As far as dark presence goes- there is only one discard side, I don't feel like it will get the use in this deck that it would in many other decks, there's enough mitigation in this deck that you don't really need to worry.

@DArk VEngance unfortunately the way the cards read right now, if you roll out the baton you have to 'immediately resolve it' and this doesn't necessary occur at the same time as an 'after' effect like the batons ability saying you can reroll. I can see it going either way and personally I think it should be ruled that the baton made for FN works perfectly with his ability, but who knows.

Water your thoughts on Lightsaber Pike?

Double Blanks Gaming- Jay 2232

@Crabshack101 I considered it- I don't think it is good enough with FN's ability unfortunately. I am sure it could be used in this deck but I'd rather have mitigation.

DArk VEngance 1

I tried anger instead of enrage, so far so good.

Double Blanks Gaming- Jay 2232

@DArk VEngance enrage is so essential to this deck- it has helped me do an extra 3 damage so many times and help me win. This deck is strapped for resources and enrage helps it so much. I took this list to a tournament yesterday and won- I swapped out the two tactical mastery with 1 feel your anger and 1 overconfidence.

I have added Boundless to my list and its working great so far. Went 5-0 in testing vs a vader raider last night

IMO FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper pairs a lot better with Jango (there are many examples in the decklist section), or even eKrennic or ePhasma (no Fast Hands or Jango but Wingman and lockdown there).

The only thing blue adds to it is Dark Presence (which would work wonderfully with FN ability to resolve dice twice sometimes, but also means your opponent has to have dice in the pool), and possibly some removal (which would be subpar compared to He Doesn't Like You anyway). From now on I'd always consider this type of deck before eVader/Raider, as removal works vs. Vader but it doesn't do much vs dice that are resolved immediately. If a deck renders most removal useless

I run a similar deck, though I don't have all the control cards I'd like yet. But I've been working with Imperial War Machine instead of Logistics, it's been going pretty well so far. You're not dependent on a separate die roll to get that resource-side damage off, and you can actually resolve it same-turn rather than playing Logistics to get the resources and leaving yourself vulnerable to disrupt or mitigation.

PurpleLeader 1

This deck spawns Darth Vader dice and not the Dark Apprentice die (baby Vader). Is no one else having this problem?

sruman 1

As far as I see, everyone has this problem with young vader in TTS.

Crabshack101 70

@PurpleLeader I am sorry maybe i am just to new but can you explain what you mean? Spawnig dice and how does it cause problems?

pwnt1337 1

@PurpleLeader You have to edit the name of baby Vader to 'SoR Darth Vader' in the JSON file.

Crabshack101 70

ohhh this is a tabel top simulart thing...

@Jmiahddixon I noticed in your live stream that there were a couple differences to the deck you have listed, notably Force Speed & Probe. Did you find FS useful or removed it because deck was already fast enough? I found Probe useful.in games but slows a deck down but combining with FS or Tactical Mastery could solve that I suppose.

Is there any need for High Ground? I've found when playing FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper that claiming is rare and that it works in your favour when opponent claims which allows you to roll out with zero opposition.

What are your thoughts on Holdout Blaster in this deck as well? Is it a simple.case it has been negated as you've opted for more dice mitigation?

minimal_criminal 1

I am building a similar deck with physical cards, and it is very strong and consistent! So far, I'm missing one Z6 Riot Control Baton and 2 Rocket Launchers and using 2x Lure of Power and 1x Lighsaber Pike instead. For the events, I'm using Anger, Trust Your Instincts and Manipulate (+ Dark Presence support) instead of Close Quarters Assault, Dug In, Feel Your Anger, High Ground and Tactical Mastery.

I recently went to a weekly tournament with a borrowed Emo Kids deck. I was able to take 1st place. What a confidence boost. I just wish the deck was mine. I was then asking my buddy to help me build a fast aggro deck, but more budget minded. He found this one that looked interesting, and after reading it and pricing out cards, I decided to give it a try.

Now, at the moment, I can't afford the 3 expensive weapons (Rocket Launcher, Riot Batons, and I will be picking up a pair of vibro knives as soon as they are back in stock at my LGS)... Instead I subbed them out for a pair each of F-11D Rifles, Infantry grenades, and light saber pike. I already had one vader and one 9's, so I bought a second of each. I also had about 6 of the common cards in the deck as well. I spent a grand total of $31 to finish the deck.

I play tested it against my buddy's tournament winning Funkar deck and was able to absolutely wreck him twice...I lost but it was due to some very lucky rolls at the end.

Someone asked about lightsaber pike.. and while I would love to have the more expensive cards listed for this deck.. I am using what I can at the moment. I wasn't particularly excited about it, but I wanted to learn about the mechanics of this deck and start playing with it immediately, so in they went. Pike is great to roll out on FN when you roll bad for one of your other weapons. You just need one melee damage showing, and it's almost guarantee to give some major damage every time with it's high + damage.

I like how this deck works mechanically, Its extremely fast and I am learning how to better play mitigation cards, which this deck has a main focus on. It works really well.

Last night I played Funkar, took out FN and Trooper in round 2, and then had Unkar down to a few damage left when vader died, and then my buddy got some lucky rolls in to finish off FN. This happened again the night before when I play tested it against the same deck. With the more expensive cards I think it would do more damage to give it that winning edge.

I also played a 3 player game last night as well. Funkar vs Han/Leia, vs this deck without the super weapons in it. Almost single handedly I produced enough damage with the junk weapons I had to take out FN, Trooper, and then Leia. I had half damage on Unkar, and half damage on Han before I finally ran out of mitigation and died to my buddies dual onslaught to get rid of me.

All in all, I am VERY impressed with this setup, and I think for anyone looking for a more budget friendly fast playing Emo Kids style deck, this is a better option.

Thanks again for posting this writeup, I really enjoyed reading it and am having a blast with this deck, even in it's weakened state. I plan to take it to the weekly tournaments next week and wreck some more people with it :)

BlueValeGames 45

I do have to follow up one more thing... against Funkar, he does take away a lot of your mitigation cards, so you have to play those weapon swaps and FN insta-rolls fast to get the Funkar FN out of the picture, then go to town on Unkar or Trooper. You can usually roll enough damage or vader's specials to take out trooper in one ,or even half a round.

Against decks that aren't constantly taking away your cards, I think this will fair much better. I just happened to be play testing against one of the worst tier 1 decks out there for control.

Just got back from a store tournament (10 players) and took 1st (still missing riot batons and rocket launchers). I ended up playing the mirror of this deck for my final round, he had Force Speeds and holocrons and riot batons (no rocket launchers though). All 4 wins were under 4 turns. Even gimped a bit this is a ridiculously potent deck. Won a Jango Fett and an electro shock full art promo as well as 4 booster packs (this store does 1 pack per win). Good times. Awesome deck! I played it also earlier this week with a 5 player friends swiss tournament and placed 2nd.
