This is the product of many, many iterations of palp decks. I have been really keen to make it work ever since i first saw the card in one of my first booster packs.

The temptation with ePalp is to go max Aggro; this can work, but it will fail as much as it succeeds. Palp just doesn't have enough dice to mitigate the random chance of not rolling what you need and doesn't have much access to focus. So although its nice to blow your opponent off the table with a first turn No Mercy combo. The reality is, yellow/red decks have enough control to be able to mitigate this often enough that it can be a little flat. I have been looking for the consistent Palp deck, that can weather the storms and still pull out the damage.

Battlefield

It's there for 2 reasons:

  1. For moving around ammo belt and second chance
  2. It cant hurt me

Upgrades Only 9 dice?!?

No room here for the show-stoping Force Lightning or even for the in vogue Force Speed. This is all about control.

The key really is control and discard. most of the dice have discard faces, making Dark Presence more effective, and the secondary win condition of 'Mill' a real possibility in the Second Chance slugfests.

A great mulligan target is Sith Holocron: Mind Probe. especially when facing Emperor's Throne Room - Death Star II (i'm looking at you Poe/Maz and yes you too Emo-Boys)

Essentially the aim is to never spend resources on upgrades. Palp's dice are strong enough to kick out some damage. We're saving resources for control and for a turn 3/4 rise again.

Support Not much needs saying here. This is another good mulligan target. The board pressure of having these on the table can play with your opponents actions.

Although Interrogation Droid is tempting here, its just a bit expensive for the deck. You really need to be saving those resources to keep yourself alive, there are just none available for investing in a slow support in most games.

Events Most of this will be obvious again, so ill just cover some of the more fringe decisions. Essentially you are looking to draw 2-3 control events per turn, and they are for the most part 1 or 0 cost.

No No Mercy you say??!

It goes against the makeup of the deck, i have tried it in and its too counter productive to discard so many control cards. the deck really doesn't need it.

Premonitions is SO good in this deck. Its my no.1 mulligan target along with Rise Again. Play it out asap and get saving up the 5 resources to pay for the other one - see which comes along first.

Boundless Ambition is one of the final additions to the deck and really brought it together. This allows you to cycle your deck quite aggressively looking for either the first Rise Again or the second Premonitions. if you don't bump into one of those you have a bloody good chance of getting the other Boundless Ambition and you go again. ideally you pull this towards the end of a round, so you can ditch the whole new draw if required at the end and draw 5 more for the next.

note: you are possibly seeing half your deck in this 1 game round

  • round starts, draw 5,
  • play 4 throughout the round,
  • play boundless as the 5th,
  • draw 5,(seen 10 cards)
  • "did you get preminitions or rise again?"
  • if no, discard all 5 at the end of the round,
  • draw back up to 5 for the next round (seen 15 cards)

This really should keep you alive against the aggro decks, it has done for me.

The difficult matchups tend to be character spam and poe/maz. To counter Poe/Maz effectively you really have to get that holocron/mindprobe out turn 1. ideally get 1 control card for 1 of poe's dice turn 1 too. Then turn 2 you really are looking to be SUPER aggressive and resolve Palp's dice asap. Pref is obviously damage, but Discard is just as good. And grab their battlefield with mindprobe for a 3-4 dmg hit (and saving yourself from a 3-4 damage hit.
