I have had really good luck with this deck so far. Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary's best strength is his action cheat ability. By playing an ambush weapon on him, you can roll him in and resolve his damage sides before your opponent can mitigate the damage. By pairing Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary with Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician you have an aggro deck that can resolve damage very quickly. The drawback to this is that when playing two resource cost ambush weapons you are often left without resources to pay for Cad Bane's best side 3 for 1 resource. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how much damage you have in the pool if you are unable to resolve it. To fix this issue, I have added Outmaneuver X 2 and the Moisture Farm - TatooineBattlefield. You should be able to claim 60%-70% of the time. Assuming you use your Battlefield that is an 1 additional resource. If you are able to play Outmaneuver, you will get 2 additional resources with Moisture Farm - Tatooine or 1 without. That means you can start most rounds with 3 or 4 resources. I would not be overly concerned with getting a second Outmaneuver out unless you did not get Moisture Farm - Tatooine and you feel like you have an extra action.

The optimal first hand is 1 Outmaneuver and 1 On The Hunt with the remaining cards being 0 cost removal, but Outmaneuver should be your biggest focus as it sets you up for the rest of the game. You might not claim the first round, because On The Hunt does not have an ambush action, and it will take an additional turn to play Outmaneuver. Unless I am playing a mill deck or deck that can threaten discard, I am not worried about getting Outmaneuver down early. I would prefer to threaten damage in the pool. Depending on what my opponent is capable of, I would probably roll in Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician my first turn to see what he rolls in and to set up potential range damage that could be resolved in a single turn. Turn two, I would most likely play On The Hunt or mitigation cards if I need to. Again even at the cost of not being able to claim this round, get Outmaneuver down for future claims as a late action unless your opponent can threaten discard and then get it down as soon as possible. Despite Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary huge damage potential, you probably will not do much in the first round. That changes very quickly in the next rounds as you will be able to passively generate income to pay for upgrades and resolve damage thanks to Moisture Farm - Tatooine and/or Outmaneuver.

Every subsequent round, should consist of activating Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician first, then playing ambush upgrade's on Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary to roll in and resolve all ranged dice to maximize damage. I would deviate from this in the following circumstances.

I would play an ambush upgrade on Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary first if I thought I had a high probability that I could kill and opponent's character. I would play an ambush upgrade on Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary first in order to play He Doesn't Like You in the rare case my opponent went first this round and I needed removal. I would play an ambush upgrade on Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary on my first turn against Thrawn - Master Strategist especially to get X-8 Night Sniper into the pool and not discarded. This deck is a race to resolve Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary's dice, but as '@Foz' correctly points out optimal damage potential comes from rolling in Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician first, but you should pay careful attention to when that is the best play. Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary alone can resolve high damage with his dice alone and sometimes that is the optimal move other times you will want to play Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician first.

Other situations that you should be aware of include:

-Do not forget the ability of the X-8 Night Sniper.

-Do not overlook the specials on LL-30 Blaster Pistol or On The Hunt, as both can be useful.

-Make sure you play most efficient line in the case of Bait and Switch and the abilities of X-8 Night Sniper or LL-30 Blaster Pistol. Remember Bait and Switch has ambush.

-If you have three upgrades on Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary and one of them is On The Hunt, do not hesitate to upgrade to an ambush weapon. On The Huntis not a great upgrade to have in play late game.

-Do not forget to resolve your dice in an order that maximizes damage. Specifically resolve ranged damage first in scenarios where Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician's special side can do 3 damage instead of 2.

Two cards that could make the cut include Threaten and Truce. If you are unable to get an optimal first hand or you couldn't get Moisture Farm - Tatooine, you should remain conservative with your resources until you feel comfortable. If you find yourself in a situation where you have damage in the pool without a resource to pay for it, remember Truce has ambush allowing you to get the resource and pay for the damage in a single turn!

Why would you roll Cad Bane out first if you have an ambush weapon to play? You can get even more done if Phasma's dice are already in pool when Bane activates, and putting Phasma in first also gives you dice to use with He Doesn't Like You if you need to. This is very similar to old Jango/Veers decks, and you never wanted Jango activated first in that deck, you wanted Veers already in the pool so you could make the most out of the action after Jango activated.

@Foz That is a great point. I think I got to long winded, and did not accurately state the play order. I will edit my post.

Do you think it would be worth putting in something like Deadly as a last resort in case you just can't seem to roll any damage?

I've been playing this deck as well and have found Swiftness to be invaluable. It potentially turns two of your non-ambush upgrades into Ambush ones (F-11D Rifle or DH-17 Blaster Pistol, which I like for the 1-cost). And, Swiftness + We Have Them Now or Heat Of Battle can be game winning plays for just 3 resources.

@Coronanator111 I love Deadly, but I can't find a place for it in this deck. It is not a great upgrade for Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary and it slows the game play down. I think Deadly makes more sense in a deck with someone like Bazine Netal - Master Manipulator because it makes her bad dice more useful and she is more likely to be in a three character deck.

I understand your theory that the probability of Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary rolling ranged damage isn't great, but I would prefer to add an upgrade that gave him more potential to have more ranged damage. Because then when you do roll ranged damage with Cad Bane - Vicious Mercenary and an upgrade you get more damage that can be resolved in a single turn.

@Zenclix I really like We Have Them Now and Heat Of Battle, it was hard to cut them from the deck. And I always forget about Swiftness. I will probably add Swiftness and We Have Them Now to this deck in place of Truce and Threaten to see how they play out.

The only thing I am hesitant on is the resource cost, and the fact that We Have Them Now probably relies on Swiftness to be a great addition. That being said, Swiftness would be a great addition to the deck on it's own.
