I played in a 17 person tourney and came in 5th place.

Match 1: Emo kids, no legendaries. I got Jedi Robes and Vibroknife first draw. He got no upgrades first draw. I rolled good damage and kept shields on. I took out Vader first. Kylo hung in there, but I drew a second Vibroknife in about the 3rd or 4th round, and it was done in about 5 rounds.

Match 2: Bala, Tie, Trooper x2 Round 1: I drew Vibroknife and Force Speed. Rolled out 4 damage. Then I rolled out Qui and got 4 more damage, and Tie was down in first turn. Round 2: In the second turn, he finally put some weapons on, but I drew 2x Deflect and took out his rocket launcher die and did 2 damage, then I did the same with a 2 damage die (he had +2 die with it). I did this even when forgetting to add Rey's staff die to my pool when I paid for it. Rounds 3+: After taking out Bala, I rolled steady damage and shields, and then used a Riposte to do 3 damage to his final character. Rolled out Rey and got two 1 damage die, a focus on Force Speed, then turned a Rey die to 2+ and finished the last Trooper.

Match 3: eQui eRey! Round 1: I lost the battlefield roll so I put a shield on each character. I drew Jedi Robes and Vibroknife first draw. I rolled that out and did 4 damage to his Qui right away. Then I rolled 2 damage and 2 shields with Qui, did the damage and put shields on Rey. Round 2: played Riposte to remove Rey's 3 shields and do 3 more damage to his Qui. One more damage roll and he was out. Round 3: he took out my Rey but before he did I played Lightsaber to replace Makashi Training, then when she died I redeployed it to Qui. At that point, my Qui had 2 shields and his Rey had something like 4 damage. I hit through his shields with a damage roll of 4 (my Vibroknife left play when my Rey died). Round 4: I rolled a shield and melee, played Synchronicity, and cut through 2 shields to finish his Rey off and win the match.

Match 4: ePalp. Guard and Force Illusion saved my butt, but he used Rise Again TWICE! First time was with 5 resources, second one was with Premonitions. My fatal mistake was switching an upgrade instead of rolling Qui out, when Palp had only 3 health left. After that, Palp rolled out and killed Qui. Then he discarded my other Guard. Rey survived for a while but couldn't make it on her own.

In the round of top 8, I played against my wife who plays a Funkar deck (eUnkar, FN, and Trooper). She always beats me with her deck when we play at home, and this time was no different. Oh well, at least one of us got into the final 4!

If you have questions or suggestions, go for it! Thanks for reading.

Nice deck. ;)

I would definitely double up on Makashi Training FAST. It adds so much damage for such a low cost, but it also removes melee dice, which can sway the game in mirror matches, especially if you remove the only base melee dice so the opponent can't resolve their modifiers. =)

Force Misdirection is the only other staple missing from this deck. It's not so great against ranged decks, but against mirrors and eVadar/eKylo which is popular recently, it's devastating. You can spot one of your melee dice to remove ALL of your opponent's melee dice, and it doesn't even remove the dice you spot. This will likely wipe out the opponent's entire damage bank for a single resource. If you're against a ranged deck, then just discard it for re-roll fodder. Clearing even a single damage dice for a single resource is fair, let alone ALL damage dice. =O

I would consider playing Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber insted of Force Protection. It has two 2 shield sides and has additional damage sides. Also, I found out The Power of the Force to be great and I would cut Defensive Stance. Also one Rey's Staff could be either second Makashi Training or Journals of Ben Kenobi - which is great way to draw into more zero cost cards in any turn.

@Setzuenyep, I agree on a second Makashi Training. I'm just waiting to get a second one :). That's a good idea regarding Force Misdirection! I'll definitely add that to my deck. The question is, what to take out of the deck to make room. I know that folks aren't necessarily fans of Defensive Stance, but it has saved my tail a time or two and I can't justify taking it out at the moment.

@karolkoI agree, Force Protection needs to go. But I'm not sure about The Power of the Force. I'm wary to add any more events that cost even 1 because I'm usually pretty strapped for resources in this deck, and would rather use resources to pay for upgrades or for resource-costing die sides.

I was playing around with an Emo Kids deck with my wife last night and found that Force Throw was pretty useful when I rolled out a modifier side that I couldn't do anything with (see: Rey's shitty rolls). I might figure out how to add that. Again, not sure what I'd take out to make room, though.

`@megandyg The Power of the Force is much more versatile card than Defensive Stance and cost the same. More often than not you can emulate Defensive Stance with that card and then it has other uses (damage, resource sometimes even discard) as well. Given the deck you should not have problems having 3 blue upgrades on your chars for most of the game.

@karolkothat's a fair point. I'll test it out and see what I can do with it. Thanks for the suggestion!

@megandyg I'd consider dropping Force Protection too, just because it's only good for its special side, which is a 1/3 chance of a roll. It also costs 3, so if you struggle to generate resources, it's a good idea to drop this for your second Makashi Training when you get it. These exact reasons are why I wouldn't consider adding Force Throw, either. =)

I also agree that Defensive Stance isn't great. Force Misdirection will mitigate FAR more damage than the 2 shields will, for the same cost. Not only that, but there are a lot of cards that deal unblockable damage, which would bypass your shields entirely. There's also a cap of 3 shields per character, which can sometimes make this a dead card to begin with.

My final thought is to address your resource problem. You lack any reliable resource generation, and although you have cards that "can" roll resources, they are cards which rolling resources sacrifices huge damage. Sure, you "can" roll resources on Lightsaber, Handcrafted Light Bow and Makashi Training, but would you want to? I'd recommend including a playset of cards designed purely to fund your deck, such as Datapad or Journals of Ben Kenobi.

I've been looking for a qui gon Rey deck for forever. So any deck of this combination is okay with me.

Ok, I tried some changes and have lost a bunch. I am probably not playing the new cards correctly, but I will try to go back to this deck as listed and see if it's me or if it's the deck :)

Here's what I played: Riposte x2 Guard x2 Overconfidence x2 Deflect x2 Synchronicity x2 The Power of the Force x1 It Binds All Things x1 Force Illusion x2 Caution x2 Force Misdirection x1 Makashi Training x1 Bowcaster x1 Vibroknife x2 Force Speed x2 Jedi Robes x2 Lightsaber x1 Rey's Staff x2 One With The Force x1 Force Throw x1
